Opening of the Orchard

On Thursday Daniel Kawczynski, our local MP visited the Vicarage to open our new Dementia Friendly Garden called ‘The Orchard’.  For weeks now nurses Kirsten and Natasha have been working with grounds man,  Paul and local garden centre, Dobbie’s to make the area a lovely place for resident’s to go into on their own and walk around knowing they are safe and secure. It is filled with plants, shrubs and miniature trees which as you brush past fill the air with gentle fragrances, or residents can pick fruit from the trees. Colourful fencing, adorned with beautiful banners made by our administrator Mary, add a back drop to the insect hotels which are already showing signs of being used. Wind chimes tinkle gently in the breeze all making the garden a wonderful place to stimulate the senses.

All the plants, table and chairs have been donated by Dobbie’s, for which we are extremely grateful.

Daniel commented that he was extremely moved by level of care at the Vicarage Nursing Home in Bayston Hill and that the vegetable garden was very impressive’.
